Report on Community Policing Projects in Jangal Mahal areas.
i) JANGAL MAHAL
FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT-2011.
As a part of community
policing in LWE affected PSs Jangal Mahal Football tournament - 2011 was
organized to build up a strong police- public relation , so that the common
people particularly the young generation can be motivated to keep them in the
right track and to alienate the Maoist activists from the main stream of the
society.
In Bankura District total
158 Clubs of LWE affected PSs namely (i) Barikul PS, (ii) Raipur PS, (iii)
Ranibandh PS, (iv) Sarenga PS and (v) Simlapal PS were involved in this Jangal
Mahal Football tournament - 2011.

The
inaugural match played between Sarenga XI and Bhalukkhuna Chhandabani Club both
of Sarenga PS was held on 04.09.11 at Sarenga Mission Ground.
Dr. Pranav
Kumar, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police,Bankura was pleased to inaugurate
the opening match of the Jangal Mahal Football tournament, 2011 of the district.
One club from
each of five LWE affected PSs emerges as champion of the concerned Police
Station. The final round of championship was held on 18.09.11 and 19.09.11 at
Barikul PS Football ground. The final match between RCLB Jumit Gaonta of Radhagobindapur
Melara GP and Arrah Adibasi Pandit Raghunath Murmu Wiher Gaontan was held on
19.09.11 at Barikul PS Football ground. RCLB Jumit Gaonta of Radhagobindapur, Melara
GP won the champion trophy.

IPS, Special IG & DIG, Medinipur Range Kharagpur, Dr. Pranav Kumar,
I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Bankura, Syed Waquer Raza, IPS, Addl. SP,
Bankura and others remained present in this final match of the tournament.

ORGANISATION OF MEDICAL CAMPS /EYE CHECK-UP CAMPS.
The
access to modern medical health care is poor in Maoist affected Areas of the
district. Most of the people of five LWE affected P.Ss of this district are not
only poor ; they are super superstition - ridden and unaware of modern health
care . Many people are suffering from malnutrition related, tropical and other
chronic diseases.
In
order to develop health care awareness amongst the people of the Jangal Mahal
and for regular medical treatment to the needy, organizing Medical Camps in
those areas has become immensely helpful.
